Holy JEEZ I love it when I get to work with amazing people! For the much anticipated (and delayed) bridal shoot with Suzie Jurado, I was blessed to have my A-Team onboard to assist. Originally planned to be at the Lustre Pearl, this shoot was the brainchild of Suzie herself. When we first began planning this shoot, I had nearly begged Suzie to let me try and impress her with my camera. I former co-worker, Suzie was familiar with some of the high-quality-yet-standard-and-uniform youth sports portraiture for All American Photo, our short run as All Star Photo, and a few PHOTO DOJO photo-booth images. So when I had the opportunity to show her the creative style of my work while maintaining the Austin-shabby-chic soul of her idea, I jumped at it. Not long after we began working on the shoot, we were met with some challenges. First, Lustre Pearl got a little big for their britches and went ex-comm about the scheduled shoot. I HATE when people just stop responding to business inquiry. Hate it. So it didn’t take me long to toss my hands in the air and go location scouting (one of the best facets of my job). I discovered with many other people the Swan Dive at Red River and 7th. It was a great location downtown, close to Suzie and me both…
We had a couple of schedule snafu’s, dress failure (thanks Anslee from coming through in the clutch!) and a new policy to charge the crap out of people to shoot there. All of this was taken in stride, but the delays provided one last obstacle. This month’s Austin Monthly magazine featured Andrew Chan’s photoshoot with the gorgeous Hippie Hannah (loved working with her for Austin Fashion Week!). Other shots there were being published, so I decided we would push the shoot back further to put a little separation between me and the other photographers shooting and publishing from that venue.
With the great help of Anna Alvarez on style and Lauren Garcia’s make-up skills (both ladies taking your appointments NOW at the Salon at the Domain), we had Suzie all dolled up and looking cuter than I had ever seen her. Still to come, photos from the intimate affair that was there wedding. Talk about STYLE! Suzie’s creativity bleeds well beyond the borders of her amazing web design. Check it out. And thanks for readying, mom!
