South Congress is always a safe bet for fun in front of the lens. With near perfect Austin weather, great design and textures, shoppers and artists milling about their lazy day in the sun. Each time I return with a couple, I find new ways to utilize the scenery, signs, and architecture of the shopper-friendly neighborhood. Oh, and btw, I am sorry that the neighborhood parking is getting out of control. I would recommend to anyone thinking about using this venue to carpool into the area and try to park by at one extreme end or the other. You are going to walk the length of the area anyways, help out by parking away from the “hot spots.” We started on the Club Continental side and moved our way south. I love the doors at the Continental. It’s so vivid surrounded in black. Skipping the typical “Hey Cupcake” shot, we found something near and dear to both their hearts, the “Pet’s Alive” trailer. Additionally, we staged a few candids in the street and sidewalk. Aside from using this series for their announcement, the couple is ordering our custom magnets with images for “favors” to their wedding guests.
I have heard (much to my chagrin) what a “destination city” Austin has become. Now, if you are one of my three out of state fans, please don’t read this. Keep believing that the hippies have taken over the greater metro area, we are all deviants, and the water tastes like metal, as far as you are concerned!!! Seriously though, the post-SXSW exhale of traffic and tourists brought such happiness to me, but I was really appreciative of all the commerce and talent the event brought. I was able to bone up on my networking skills, my fancy dinner skills, my shake this booty skills, and hear some fantastic music despite my continued boycott of the badge (can we have a festival in Austin that DOESN’T cost a couple hundred bucks in advance?). Now that it’s back to “business, I am producing some of the images for Miranda and Austin that we photographed a couple of months back. Those of you who have been reading here or on Facebook already have seen the photos, but since migrating to this amazingly redesigned (thanks Suzie Jurato Design) website, I have found that I need to repost, repair, or update some of the older blogs which are important. These reposts and repairs will feature fewer photos once the shopping gallery plug-in is released.
