When I was asked to photography Audra’s wedding, I was immediately elated. Audra is this beaming blonde beautiful sister of my friend Christen who I absolutely adore. In the very next second I was immediately filled with anxiety. Audra would be getting married on New Year’s Day in Grapevine, just outside the DFW Metroplex. I was open this year (typically I book PHOTO DOJO parties on New Year’s Day, but I had decided no more holidays away from my friends and family after missing yet another trip to Santa Fe with the Weigls.
Holy JEEZ I love it when I get to work with amazing people! For the much anticipated (and delayed) bridal shoot with Suzie Jurado, I was blessed to have my A-Team onboard to assist. Originally planned to be at the Lustre Pearl, this shoot was the brainchild of Suzie herself. When we first began planning this shoot, I had nearly begged Suzie to let me try and impress her with my camera. I former co-worker, Suzie was familiar with some of the high-quality-yet-standard-and-uniform youth sports portraiture for All American Photo, our short run as All …
What a blessing to have such an amazing team come together for a shoot so simple in design as this staged bridal portraiture to create such elegance in imaging. Lyz was a true talent. Notice here I am not calling her a model. I have worked with more than enough models to grant me right to some typical generalizations now. She listened to direction, created the movement and energy I asked for, and then ran with it like no one’s business. As my lighting schemes developed through the shoot, she fed from my direction to …
Years ago, my coworker and I were taking a smoke break together when we started talking about the photography projects I was working on part time, outside of my job at Satellite Country. Miranda had mentioned in passing that one day she would hire me to photograph her wedding. Fast forward almost a half decade and there I was at Jillian’s venue once more for a hot “Spring” wedding in Central Texas, Miranda and Austin at last together with their family and friends to celebrate a lovely union. As expected, the wedding was a beautifully …
This isn’t the first time I have been MORE than happy to step in to assist another great photographer. This time it was a fall wedding with Jen Brown Imaging. I can’t tell you enough just how much fun assisting at a wedding is for me. Removing myself from the role of organizer, I enjoy spending my time getting details of the wedding, a fresh angle of the ceremony, and filling up on reception fun! I get to help a fantastic (and brilliant) friend and former class mate, Jen Brown with …
It’s hard to believe there was I time when you could get me to photograph anything, anytime, anywhere… so long as it was black and white. Like the early Model T, my photography was for the black and white film lover. Geared up with my father’s AE-1 and rolls and rolls of fresh out the cooler Ilford Delta 400 film. Loved it. The grain, the cool temperature, the response to ambient light, and the convenience of less-than-finicky developing made it my mainstay.
The other day I was in a meeting and a colleague showed me some …
The last of the sun allows for some group photography, families coming together once more, and some crazy dancing to an awesome live band before Zack let his computer take over. Thanks for not playing Greenday, Zack. You rock.

As the sun began to set at last, the beauty of the Bastop pine country exhales in the shade of clouds and treeline. It was a party on the patio as Cedar Bend utilized its freshly built covered reception and dining …

One can only say so much before one is actually taking away from the experience. I have tried throughout this series to be a bit photo dude as well as participating artist. In the small world of Austin Wedding Photography, you start out photographing your friends, and because of this it’s hard to make a transition to business-only-photography. So I have decided to get to know all of my clients better, to be a part of what this …
This is the bread and butter of the album-soon-to-come. The emotion and passion in this wonderful outdoor wedding before a rustic wood alter, adored with crystals, Zack’s father gazing out from his portrait and blessing the union in sun made for some of the most fantastic photography captured by me and my other photographer on this job, Jenny DeMarco , YOU SHOULD GO TO HER SITE RIGHT NOW! BEST PHOTOGRAPHER I HAVE SEEN IN SOME TIME!!!!, all working with high sun and lots of heat coming of the freshly rained on pasture. I am super proud …
