When it comes to photography, some genres are so challenging that many photographers hesitate to go outside the comforts of the standard compositions and lighting schemes. Newborn photography is a great genre that I have recently photographed a bit more and more as I get older (and all my friends start getting pregnant!) I have had the pleasure of trying out ideas I have had for this specific field of photography. Miranda (Randi) is a part of the great team at Salon at the Domain, where we met when I took a bunch of pictures of something they had going on… I can’t remember right now.
In this series I have recreated lighting schemes I use in editorial and commercial/product photography. For the portraits, I utilized the studio space to create a high key, bright vignettes with brightly lighted compositions. Dad, Rodney, was a great addition to the photo session. With powerful wings and a fantastic smile, incorporating dad was a great idea that created striking images of the paternal bond. With new compositions and great looks from Ellis, this was a win. #Onmi-winning
