When I have a half minute of *spare time* I spend time at the Pedernales Studios and start queing up some new lighting schemes for use on location. With the control of light in the studio, I can generate shooting habits that I practice on location. I know, sounds like a blast, huh? So to actually enjoy doing some of this work, I collaborate with some of the other guys from the studio or another creative like myself. Young Taylor of TWT Photography works on location with All American Photo during the youth sports season. She is an awesome shooter and a ton of fun to work with. I was confident that she would be a *blasty blast* to work with, requiring less direction from me than the amount of fun style she brought to the set. Within no time at all we had a cool lighting scheme and a few looks that rocked. THIS is awesome. Taylor is a sassy lil spit-fire who has a ton of talent with her camera. You have probably seen her before at one of a hundred bad ass concerts (maybe even at her boyfriend’s set downtown) next to al the action, camera in hand flashing away, headbanging her heart out. Enjoy the set!
Lighting Scheme diagram for those that want to know. Remember: this is a great formula for outdoor photography. Without the need for a backdrop, you only need a light to fill that is synced with the ambient light (usually between f/8 in the morning-f/16 in the brightest light) and meter the kicker light behind the subject one stop down from the key and ambient. While the kicker light looks brighter, it’s actually a “harder” light that provides a very low lighting ratio.
